What information do we collect and how will it be used?
To simply browse or view the information or comments posted on
our Websites, we do not ask you to provide any information.
However, if you wish to sign up your child for one of our online
newspapers (such as My Daily 10) or participate in any of our
discussion forums or blogs, we may need to collect certain
personal information about you and/or the child for whom you
are purchasing a subscription. This information is only collected
with your knowledge (i.e., if you, as the parent or other adult,
voluntarily provide us information through one of our online
forms) and when you do any of the following:
- Register for, or purchase a subscription to, one of
our daily online newspapers for kids (e.g., My Daily 10);
- Use our discussion forums or blogs (e.g., Why News For Kids);
- Enter a contest, sweepstakes, or other promotion; or,
- Use our Tell-a-Friend feature.
The types and amount of information collected for these activities
vary depending on the feature. The requested information may
include personal or contact information (such as your name and/or
e-mail address) and non-personal or demographic information (such
as your age, a username and password that you create, and hobbies
and interests). If demographic information is collected for a
feature that also requires personal information, this information
may be combined and stored as a single record. Combining data
allows us to customize our publications and content according
to your interests and preferences. The specific types of personal
and/or demographic information requested for each feature and
the way the information is used are discussed in more detail
below.
Under all circumstances, we will limit the information we collect
to that which is reasonably necessary for us to provide the service
you have requested and to perform other tasks related to maintaining
our services.
- Registration/Subscription for Online
Newspaper – My
Daily 10
To register for or purchase a subscription to the MyDaily10 newspaper
(or other Play Bac Presse USA newspaper) on behalf of a child,
you will be asked to provide the following information: (i) your
name, email address, home address, relationship to the child,
and how you heard about our service; (ii) the child’s name,

information about the newspaper directly) the child’s email
address; and, (iii) if you choose to purchase a subscription,
your credit card and billing information. In addition, we may
ask you to create a username and password so that the child could
independently log in to our Sites and use the features that accompany
their subscription, and so that you could login to access or
modify your account profile.
Your registration/subscription information is used for the purpose
for which the information was collected, i.e., to deliver the
publication you’ve selected, process your subscription,
and give you access to our Sites. In addition, we may use your
contact information (email address, for example) to send you
information about special offers and events about our products
and services. These offers may also include announcements that
we send out on behalf of reputable third parties who offer products
or services that we think may be of interest to you.
- Discussion Forums and Blogs
In order to submit a comment on our discussion forum and/or blogs
such as WhyNewsForKids.com, you may be asked to register and/or
provide certain personal information such as your name and email
address, along with your message. This information is collected
so we can post your comment.
Please note that if you give out personal information in public
areas such as on our discussion forum or blog, that information
can be collected and used by people you don't know and may result
in unwanted messages from other posters or parties. While we

we cannot guarantee the security and privacy of any information
that you post in these areas.
Any comments, ideas, or suggestions submitted to Play Bac Presse
USA through our Websites become the property of Play Bac Presse
USA and may be used by Play Bac Presse USA in print, including
but not limited to books, newsletters, and websites.
-
Contests and Promotions
From time to time, we may run contests or promotions (either
alone or with another third party) on our Sites that may require
the submission of personal information, including your name,
email address, and mailing address. In addition to using this
information to administer the contest or promotion, we may
use contest entry information for research purposes, for example,
to determine how many visitors participated in the contest.
If
children under the age of 13 are allowed to participate in
these events, we will obtain the necessary parental consent
and/or
design the activity so that parental consent is not required.
-
Tell-a-Friend
Personal information requested for an e-card, tell-a-friend,
or other similar features (typically, names and email addresses)
is used on a one-time basis (e.g., to send the communication)
and is not further retained by Play Bac Presse USA. If these
kinds of features are made available to children under 13,
they may be designed so that prior parental consent is not
required.
We may use your email address (collected in connection with
many of the features above) to send you transactional or administrative
communications (e.g., confirmation email when you sign up for,
or unsubscribe from, the My Daily 10 newspaper), as well as certain
service-related announcements (e.g., notices about updates to
this Privacy Policy, discontinued features or programs on our
Websites, changes to our online services, or other related changes).
Finally, we may use your personal and demographic information
for our internal marketing and demographic studies, so we can
constantly improve the online publications we provide and to
better meet the needs and interests of our online visitors.
Do we use cookies or other passive means to collect information?
Cookies
We may use cookies to improve the use and functionality of our
Websites. A "cookie" is a small file websites often
store on your computer for record-keeping purposes. Storage of
cookies on your system provides an easy and convenient method
for us to personalize your experience on our Sites and make your
next visit more enjoyable. For example, cookies may remember
your username and password during an earlier visit to our Sites.
This saves you the time of having to re-register or log in every
time you come back to our Sites to view the newspaper or use
other features. We do not use cookies to collect personal information
such as your name; however, we may link information contained
in a cookie to personal information collected from you by other

IP Addresses
We may also keep track of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses

on the network to identify your computer every time you log
on to the Internet.
Log Files
We may collect information in the form of logs - files that
record website activity and gather statistics about your
browsing habits.
These entries are generated anonymously, and help us determine
(among other things) how many and how often users have visited
our Websites, which pages they've visited, and other similar
data. Information stored in a log file may include the IP
Address of the computer accessing our Sites or a page on our
Sites,
the time and date of the request, the type of Web browser
being used,
and sometimes, the page from which the visitor is coming.
We use the log file entries for our internal marketing and
demographic
studies, so we can constantly improve the online services
we provide you. Log files are used internally only, and are
generally
not associated with any particular user, computer, or browser.
However, we may use information contained in log files to
identify a user if we feel that there are or may be safety
and/or security
issues or to comply with legal requirements.

anyone?

by Play Bac Presse USA or by a vendor on our behalf; and, is
used in accordance with the practices set forth above. Additional
information regarding our data disclosure policies follows. Please
note that we do not sell or rent your personal information to
third parties.
Agents and Contractors
We may use outside companies or their software (“vendors”)
to provide support for the internal operations of our Websites
(e.g., payment fulfillment, blog software, etc.). In the course
of doing so, these vendors can come into contact with and be
responsible for managing some of your personal information. However,
we only give them access to (or allow them to collect on our
behalf) the information they need in order to perform the specific
tasks they’ve been hired to do. They have also agreed to
protect the confidentiality and security of this information.
Joint Promotions or Sponsorships
From time to time, we may run contests, tournaments, or other
events or activities ("events") on our Websites. Information
collected for these events may include personal information such
as your email address and may be collected by or shared with
a third party sponsor, co-sponsor, or other reputable third party
or promotional partner. While we have no control over the third
party's use of such information, we will attempt to ensure that
they agree to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity
of any personal information we share with them (or that they
collect through our Websites). If you do not want your information
to be collected by or shared with a third party, you can choose
not to participate in these events at the time the information
is collected.
Legal and Business Transfers
We may disclose personal information in the good faith belief
that we are required to do so by law or to otherwise protect
our legitimate business interests, including but not limited
to disclosure to law enforcement or other government officials
in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual
property infringement, or other activity that is illegal or
may expose
you or us to legal liability. In addition, in the event of
a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other
similar
event, your account information (including personal information)
may be transferred to our successor or assign.
What safeguards do we use to protect your personal information?
